How to Rake a Sand Trap
Instructions

Things You’ll Need:

Bow Rakes Golf Balls   Sand Wedges
A raked sand trap allows the next player to successfully hit out of the trap with the fewest number of strokes.

Step 1:
Finish hitting your ball out of the sand trap.

Step 2:
Take the rake and, with long strokes, start from the innermost part of the trap and rake toward the outer edge.

Step 3:
Walk out of the trap as you rake, taking care to step in the footprints you made while entering the trap so that you won't make an extra set of footprints.

Step 4:
Watch as you rake to make sure you eliminate your footsteps and divot.

Step 5:
Rake until the trampled area blends into the rest of the sand trap.

Step 6:
Place the rake back inside the sand trap (not on the grass), then carry on with your game.
